SIEMPRE SALSA PHILLY celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. Salsa for Lunch! returns to LOVE Park each Friday throughout the month of September, from noon-2 pm, featuring complimentary dance lessons by Maestro Flaco and sounds by DJ Carlos. Salsa & Bachata Dance Party @ LOVE Park – Friday, September 9th, will feature JIMMY JORGE & the LATIN EXPRESS (salsa band) and the presentation of Siempre Salsa Philly Special Recognition Award honoring the achievements of the late salsa impresario, Ralph Mercado, and the efforts of his daughter, Damaris Mercado, to honor his legacy and foster the preservation and growth of salsa music through her work with the Mercado Project. The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GPHCC) invites Latino-owned restaurants in Greater Philadelphia to participate in Dine Latino Restaurant Week. The initiative is free for eligible restaurants and no chamber membership is required to participate. Dine Latino Restaurant Week is a promotional campaign, now in its fifth installment, that seeks to boost the revenue of Latino-Owned restaurants by promoting the availability of dining options at Latino-Owned restaurants of any cuisine. The spotlight is reserved for independent and local eateries owned by Latinos. We also seek to showcase the diversity of flavors available beyond Latin cuisine. The participation of award-winning restaurants and chefs has brought notoriety to Dine Latino Restaurant Week. Our Spring 2022 Dine Latino Restaurant Week garnered 83.5 million media impressions, 84 radio, TV and digital stories, and almost 200,000 social media impressions.

SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS

The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce launches with UPS a Small Business Grants Program.

We encourage you to apply for a grant before the deadline of Friday, September 16, 2022! 1. The applicant must be a small business with less than 20 full-time employees. 2. The applicant must be a majority Hispanic-owned business with an active EIN or ITIN number. 3. The business must have been in operation for at least 9 months from the date that you complete this form. 4. The business registered main address must be located in the U.S. states or territories. 5. Typical grant amounts will be $5,000 per business that is selected. 6. This is the year to lean in and give it your ALL to help protect rights for your fellow Pennsylvanians. But what else can you do, in addition to making donations?

On Tuesday, September 13 at 8:30 AM ET, join Represent PA and hear from Kathryn Shelton, Voter Protection Director for the PA Dems, and Andrea Koplove, Organizing Director for Turn PA Blue. Represent PA is proud to collaborate with partner organizations like these, in an all-hands effort to save democracy in Pennsylvania this November. Join in to learn about different ways you can get involved as a volunteer in the run-up to the 2022 general election. This work can take many forms—everything from expanding voter access and helping answer voter questions by phone, to door-knocking and phone banking for candidates.
