The new theory by Trump and his accolades is that Taylor and her boyfriend Kelse Travis tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs are but a big Biden plot to let the Kansas City Chiefs football team win, so that Taylor once again endorse Biden and turn out the votes.
This theory would assume that the Baltimore Ravens went to sleep and allowed the Chiefs to win that playoff game. Obviously these critics did not watch the game given that the Ravens fought hard but lost. This rightwing rhetoric would imply that the Ravens were helping the Biden campaign.
Let it be known that there are conservative leaning athletes and entertainers and the right wing should be parading them out to push votes for Trump. But, if you will, remember that for Trumps inauguration they had trouble getting top entertainers to show up.
Attacking Swift will not only anger her huge fan base but will also activate them. Notice that her fans will pay to see her live, pay to see the movie and buy her music. These fans will defend Swift against all critics.
Plus, there are plenty other celebrities pushing voter registration, like Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Viola Davis, America Ferrera, Demi Lavato, Bradley Cooper, Pharrell Williams, Samuel Jackson, Shaquille O’Neil, Snoop Dog, Laura Dern, Lebron James, Culture Clash, Eva Longoria and others who are urging in particular youth of color to register and vote.
Taylor Swift is for LGBTQ, women and voting rights, and is willing to use her name recognition to protect our ever-fragile democracy.
Remember when Actor Charlton Heston and singer Ted Nugent worked for and promoted the NRA and their absurd expansion of the 2nd Amendment, well, the right wing did not question these men but instead, held them up as heroes.
A couple of years ago, the right wing promoted the idea of having rightwing late-night comedy shows that would compete with some of the current late-night acts. This effort failed miserably; perhaps the folks on the right are just not funny.
The idea of a true democracy is to get every eligible person to register and to vote. No matter their political affiliation. Many rightwing strategists have worked to limit the votes of people of color and students. And they have said that they don’t want everyone to vote. And often say that undocumented workers are voting without having any proof. Just to be clear, not all immigrants are progressives. And furthermore, undocumented individuals are not voting.
In addition, in several right-wing states and the Republican parties are in disarray and are having financial problems and the right-wing Congress has not passed legislation to run on. So, instead, they attack Taylor Swift and others who believe in the constitution and our democratic form of government.
So, who is afraid of Taylor swift ? Not me.
