Congressman Tony Gonzalez: When private turmoil becomes public crisis in a Texas district

Uvalde, Texas, is back in the news because of an affair between local Congressman Tony Gonzalez and his Uvalde office manager.
We first heard about Uvade when 19 students and two teachers were killed by a youth with an AR-15.
It is a very right-wing area, and where Republicans can easily win this congressional seat. And now, with a one-vote margin in Congress, the Speaker of the House is slow walking this case.

They do not want to lose the seat. Should Gonzalez resign, the Democrats could take control of the House. There is a March 3rd primary, and if Gonzalez win he will for sure be weakened for the General Election.
The congressman from Texas is being urged to resign by some members of his own party after he allegedly had an affair with a staffer who died by suicide after setting herself on fire.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, is facing calls to step down with Texas’s primaries just one week away amid allegations of an affair with Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, the 35-year-old regional director of his district
Gonzales, a married father of six, repeatedly requests “sexy” photos from Santos-Aviles. The aide seems initially hesitant, writing, “You don’t really want a hot picture of me, this is going too far, boss’:
Gonzales has denied allegations that he engaged in an extramarital affair with a congressional aide who died.
But many text messages contradict the congressman.
At a time when the public is demanding all of the Epstein Files, we must also call for a complete investigation of the Congressman and the death of Regina Ann Santos-Aviles.
After learning of her texts and sexual involvement, Adrian, her husband, filed for a divorce.
Regina lost her marriage and her career, and was on the edge of destruction.

Text messages appear to show Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales pursuing a relationship with his former staffer, Regina Santos-Aviles, more than a year before she died by suicide.
The Gonzales campaign has not responded to ABC News’ requests for comment regarding the newly obtained text messages.

Gonzales has denied allegations that he engaged in an extramarital affair with a congressional aide who died.

«He just has no values,» widow Adrian Aviles said. «Gonzaez runs his whole campaign on family values, and he runs everything saying that he’s some family man. He’s actually quite a sick man.»
This is not a partisan issue but a moral one, and we must respond appropriately.
