Libraries are the heart of our community! Although the pandemic has created many challenges in the way we served the patrons; the library staff has been very creative in delivering library services with a new approach. For instance, virtual programs, curbside pick-up, and telephone reference services are the few innovative ways to stay in touch.

February is Black History Month! The Free Library of Philadelphia is celebrating, virtually, with a list of programs for the whole family: Let us Celebrate Black Artist, pre-recorded video with Chef Elijah Milligan –founder of Cooking for the Culture– and the online premiere of “A Different Kind of Song: Unsung Stories of Black Women in Classical Music”, are a few of the programs that are line-up for this month. Also, book and film discussions, craft activities, and storytimes will be available to any community member for free.

Let us honor the black ancestors sharing their stories of courage and contribution throughout history. Our nation was built from the quilt of a diverse generation of voices!
