And just so you know I am not a medical expert, but I know that many of us need access to good counseling and mental health institutions. This life is not easy and I, like many, have suffered from serious depression. A time when the bottom fell out of the bottom.

But the insanity that reigns in Texas is something to behold. And without evidence, there is no reason to believe that all mass shooters have some serious issues. And that by getting them mental health assistance those mass shootings would diminish.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Sunday the state would focus its efforts on addressing “mental health problems” behind gun violence but did not mention gun control. This is the same man who has cut the budget for mental health programs. Reporters should have pinned his ears back with the truth.

The Republican U.S. Congressman from Texas who received massive criticism for suggesting God was responsible for this weekend’s mass shooting at a shopping mall, that left eight people including a five-year-old dead, is now saying he wants more guns at the Allen Premium Outlets.

Freshman Republican Rep. Keith Self, 70, whose congressional district includes Allen, Texas, served in both the Army Special Forces and Army Rangers. A Christian nationalist, far-right extremist, and 2020 presidential election denier, Self was endorsed by twice-impeached and criminally-indicted ex-president Donald Trump, along with his disgraced ex-National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, also a far-right Christian nationalist, and a QAnon supporter. He believes we just need to trust in God.

While I believe in prayer and pray daily, I know from reading some of the Bible that prayer is not enough, and my understanding of Jesus is that he wanted us to put his concerns into action. He did not ask his followers to pray only.

Today, mental health at the political level has gone so wrong that now many politicos take the blood-soaked bullet/pills of the NRA National Rifle Association and use the NRA mantra as their new gospel. These men and women need immediate mental health intervention. To say the least, they are delusional, and they are making it easier to get these powerful weapons that kill the innocent. It is clear that these weapons of war violence can be used for someone to strike anywhere at any time.

I must be crazy because, for the life of me, I cannot see why we need weapons of war in the hands of our citizens. But history will show that those with serious mental health issues are those who can turn their backs on the savage death of the innocents and the PTSD that will haunt their every living moment.

The remedy to diminish the violence does include mental health services, but the first quick step is to limit access to weapons of war. We must search for the answers, but prayers and good thoughts, as of now have not slowed down the killing.

We approved seat belts, DUI laws, hunting laws, age limits to purchase liquor, age for driver’s licenses, and many more. And we can tackle this gun violence issue and make a difference. We just need to tell the Church of the NRA that we do not trust them and that their position on the 2nd amendment is wrong and un-American.

And we must do everything in our power to protect our citizens from these acts of violence.
