On April 9, the “NAHREP Philadelphia Real Estate and Wealth Expo” took place at Esperanza in Philadelphia, organized by the Philadelphia chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP). The event brought together community members, real estate professionals, and financial experts in a space focused on education, economic growth, and wealth building.

The event featured a series of informative workshops aimed at strengthening knowledge in key areas of financial and real estate development. Brenda Robinson, a SCORE mentor, delivered a presentation on credit strategies and financial planning, offering practical tools to improve both personal and business financial health.

Attorney Ana Amarante-Craig, known as the Puerto Rican-Dominican and a shareholder at HGSK Injury Lawyers, addressed the topic of protecting real estate assets, emphasizing that “it is better to prevent than to correct later.” She highlighted the importance of having proper insurance, maintenance processes, and technology in place to safeguard properties from potential risks.

Additionally, investors and developers Antonio Cerqueira and Stan Smith led the workshop “From Realtor to Investor: How to Get Started,” focused on the fundamentals of real estate investing. Cerqueira noted that one of the main challenges is that “there are not many Latino investors,” and stressed that initiatives like this aim to motivate the community to take the first step and get involved in real estate investment.

The event also featured Angela Capeles, CEO of Capeles Agency, who presented the importance of branding in real estate, highlighting key strategies for building a strong brand and standing out in a competitive market.

A space to empower the Latino community

During the event, Juan Valencia explained that the expo brought together nearly 30 companies connected to the real estate sector, including financing institutions, title inspection companies, and organizations that offer grants to first-time homebuyers. “The most important thing is for people who have not bought a home to start seeking information and learn about the programs available,” he said, underscoring the educational role of the event.

Silvana Araya, president of the Philadelphia chapter, added that these initiatives are centered on education as the foundation for community growth. “We want to empower Latino families to achieve homeownership. Everything starts with education,” she stated, also noting that the organization not only hosts events but also advocates for the community at the governmental level.

Access to homeownership and Latino investment

The event reaffirmed NAHREP’s commitment to advancing the Hispanic community in the real estate sector. With more than 150 members in Philadelphia, the organization actively works to pave the way toward homeownership and wealth creation. “We are Hispanic professionals working so more people can become homeowners,” said Valencia, who also pointed out that Latinos are currently one of the fastest-growing groups of homebuyers in the United States.
