If you or someone you love is experiencing abuse in a relationship, you are not alone—and help is available. The Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline is the fastest and easiest way to get support. You can call 1-866-723-3014 and someone will be there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – including holidays – to answer your call.

We understand that it can feel intimidating to call a hotline, so this article will share what you can expect. When you call, you will speak with a trained counselor who understands what you’re going through. These caring professionals will listen without judgment and can help you make a plan to stay safe.

They can also connect you with free services in the Philadelphia area, including the emergency shelter, legal aid, relocation support, and counseling programs provided by Women Against Abuse, Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Women In Transition and Lutheran Settlement House.

Some people may worry about calling because they don’t speak English. But the hotline is here for everyone. We’re working to increase our number of Spanish-speaking counselors, and we also work with Language Line to translate calls when needed. You can speak in any language, and the counselor will either speak your language or dial in a translator.

Some may fear their information will not be kept private, but everything you say is confidential, which means your information will not be shared with anyone without your permission. And hotline counselors will never ask you about your immigration status.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone—women, men, and people from all kinds of backgrounds. It can include hitting, threats, name-calling, making someone feel ashamed, not letting them make their own choices, forcing them to have sex, taking away their money, or stopping them from seeing family and friends.

If your partner makes you feel afraid or unsafe, you’re not alone—help is available. Friends and family members who are concerned about a loved one can also call the hotline for guidance, or even make the call together with them.

Calling the hotline does not mean you have to leave your partner right away. The choice is always yours. The counselor will give you options and information so you can decide what’s best for you and your family.

You deserve to feel safe in your home and in your relationships. If you are in danger or feel afraid, don’t wait. Reach out today. Call the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-866-723-3014. Help is free, private, and always available.
