On Saturday, August 16, Esperanza’s parking lot was transformed into a vibrant space of celebration during “Arte en las Calles”, a community festival that brought together families, artists, entrepreneurs, and local leaders around culture, art, and solidarity.
The event featured live music, performances by Dende & Band and Forrópera, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to learn about Esperanza’s various community programs and services.

Among the distinguished guests were Rev. Luis Cortés, founder of Esperanza, and his wife, along with Senator Art Haywood and his wife, who were attending for the first time.
“I’m glad we came. Lots of entertainment, great food, incredible opera, and friendly people. A wonderful experience,” said Senator Haywood’s wife.

The event also highlighted local talent, such as Araceli Cruz, who showcased her Mexican crafts with her daughter:“I’ve been a vendor since I was a child, and with my Mexican jewelry I aim to connect with the Philadelphia community.”
Another inspiring story was that of Tatiana Canezo and her project Blessing Letters, which has a clear spiritual mission:“My business is based on faith and aims to bless others through gifts and thoughtful details.”

These stories reflect the festival’s deep cultural and spiritual value, not only strengthening community bonds but also reaffirming Esperanza’s commitment to support, opportunity, and safe spaces for families.
