Political vendettas erode dignity in presidential rhetoric

Trump reacted to Mueller’s passing in a March 21 post on Truth Social, writing: “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President Donald J. Trump.”

It is astonishing that a president of this country would be so inhumane about the passing of a public figure.

Robert Mueller, who had such a distinguished history serving his country in the military and later as FBI director, was respected by members of both political parties.

Once he was assigned to investigate Trump and Russian influence in the 2016 election, Trump began attacking Mueller.

Trump says he’s “glad” about Robert Mueller’s death.

Ana Navarro of The View tore into Trump for gloating about the death of an American hero, Robert Mueller:

“There’s something particularly galling, I think, about the commander in chief, in the middle of a war, taking to Truth Social to attack somebody who won a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, while Commander Bone Spurs was dodging the draft. It’s the hypocrisy of this entire situation that I think we can’t get numb to.

This is the same thing he did with John McCain after he died.

This is the same thing he did with Rob Reiner. This is who he is; he is a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control.

And he is 80 years old. He’s got obvious physical ailments, and there will be people who, when he passes away —as we all will— will write these types of things and celebrate.

Well, if you don’t condemn it today from him, you don’t have a right to condemn it then from anybody.”

Far from seeing someone’s passing as a time for remembrance and for putting old grudges aside, Trump sees it as an opportunity for one final dunk—dancing on graves with disgusting callousness.

Some have said there will be a Mardi Gras–type celebration upon Trump’s passing.

I will not celebrate Trump’s death when it happens, but I admit I would be curious to see the image of him trying to pass through the pearly gates.

Trump has an evil and vengeful side, and the mindset of a 13-year-old bully; traits that should have disqualified him from office long ago.

He has belittled the military, women, people with disabilities, and people of color —particularly immigrants— and has trashed our international allies.

And every day, he lies about everything and everyone.

What’s even worse is that his policies have cost thousands of lives, pushed people into poverty, and damaged the good name of the United States.

If you want change, then you must vote.
