Graciela (Chela) Ixcopal es una artista visual y periodista emergente comprometida con contar historias impactantes arraigadas en la vida. Su trabajo se centra en temas sociales, inmigración y eventos comunitarios, con un creciente interés en la moda y la cultura pop como reflejos de la identidad y el cambio cultural.
Con una formación en arte de medios mixtos del Moore College of Art & Design (2018), ha impartido talleres, organizado eventos, guiado a estudiantes de Filadelfia en proyectos artísticos colaborativos y creando espacios para talleres de cocina con miembros de la comunidad a través de los proyectos Open Kitchen Sculpture Garden y Barnes North.
También desarrolla talleres de escritura con Fleisher Art Memorial y DVAA que apoyan a personas afectadas por la deportación y la creciente discriminación por motivos de inmigración.
Basada en el compromiso comunitario, su práctica artística nutre su periodismo, abordando cada historia con cuidado, conciencia cultural y el compromiso de amplificar las voces subrepresentadas. A través del arte visual y la escritura, busca documentar las fuerzas sociales que configuran la vida cotidiana y crear espacios para la conexión, la reflexión y el diálogo.

With a background in mixed-media art from Moore College of Art & Design (2018), they have led workshops, curated events, led Philadelphia students in collaborative art as well as created space for cooking workshops with community members through the Open Kitchen Sculpture Garden and Barnes North project. They are also developing writing workshops with Fleisher Art Memorial and DVAA that support individuals affected by deportation and heightened immigration profiling.
Grounded in community engagement, their artistic practice informs their journalism, approaching each story with care, cultural awareness, and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.
