Philadelphia, PA – Through a press release, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center announced the Third Annual Update on Cancer Care in Latinos, Hispanics, and Latinx Communities, scheduled for November 1, 2025, at Thomas Jefferson University’s Hamilton Building (1001 Locust Street, Philadelphia).

This multidisciplinary CME/CE-accredited conference will bring together cancer experts from across the region and welcomes students, trainees, health professionals, and all those interested in learning more about cancer and cancer risk within the Latino community.

The day will open with breakfast and a Poster Walk showcasing regional research focused on Hispanic health. Organizers invited students, trainees, and medical professionals to present posters highlighting academic work related to Latino health.

The program is co-hosted by the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Society of Ibero Latin American Medical Professionals (SILAMP), and the National Hispanic Medical Association, who will officially welcome participants.

Highlights include a keynote address titled “Caring for Undocumented Immigrants: Ethics and Practical Solutions” presented by Brian Tuohy, PhD. This will be followed by an Update on Cancer Early Detection and Prevention, with presentations on colorectal cancer by Ricardo Morgenster, MD, lung cancer by Cherie Erkmen, MD, and HPV/cervical cancer by Rebeca Kelly, MD.

The event will also feature a People’s Choice Poster Vote, a roundtable with cancer leaders on navigating and expanding research funding opportunities, and a closing educational session focused on advocacy, featuring representatives from regional medical societies.

After the educational program, participants will be invited to a celebratory lunch, awards presentation, and a speed mentoring session, with the chance to participate as either mentor or mentee.
