Throughout 2025, the “Vida de Impacto” series was a space to recognize those individuals who, through leadership, integrity, and social commitment, proved that even in difficult times it is possible to facilitate positive change and who inspire us all.
Vida de Impacto highlights men and women who support noble causes, serve the community, and act with humanity and professionalism, leaving a meaningful mark on the city of Philadelphia. Here is a look at just five of the incredible stories in 2025:
Rev. Bonnie Camarda: A life of faith and service in community action in Philadelphia
We proudly honored Reverend Bonnie Camarda, former Chair of Esperanza’s Board of Directors, for more than 26 years of faithful service and visionary leadership. As Divisional Director of Partnerships for The Salvation Army’s Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Division, Rev. Bonnie’s compassion, wisdom, and tireless advocacy have transformed countless lives and inspired families throughout our community.

María del Pilar: “The voice of the Puerto Rican heart in Philadelphia”
Maria del Pilar’s life has been marked by personal sacrifice, without losing faith in herself or in what has become her true calling. María del Pilar Morales is “the voice” of the Latino community—especially Puerto Ricans in Philadelphia— via radio not only because she lives to help her people through her platforms, but because the community in turn recognizes her effort, dedication, and genuine desire to serve.

“Foto” Rodríguez: A life of rhythm, culture, and community commitment in Philadelphia
His given name is Idelfonso Rodríguez, but the entire community knows him as Foto Rodríguez—a musical icon who has carried rhythm in his blood for more than 35 years. Recognized as one of Philadelphia’s finest percussionists, this master of salsa, charanga, bomba, and plena has dedicated his life not only to music, but also to planting deep cultural roots within the city’s Puerto Rican and Latino community. He is also a community activist who, through his work and social commitment, has promoted actions in support of noble causes and community development.

Jannette Díaz: Leadership with purpose and community commitment in Philadelphia
Jannette Díaz is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Congreso de Latinos Unidos. With a career defined by service, perseverance, and love for her people, Jannette embodies authentic, committed, and transformative leadership. Her personal and professional story is closely tied to the community she now leads in the heart of East Philadelphia. Recognized for her humanity and professionalism, she has served as a bridge of support for the community, promoting assistance, guidance, and hope.

Rev. Danny Cortes: Connecting with the future and education at Esperanza
For Reverend Danny Cortés, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Esperanza and its many services is the fulfillment of a collective dream. With his leadership and others who have followed, Esperanza has developed a strong educational portfolio, including a two-year college and a cyber charter school, as well the opening of Esperanza Academy Charter School’s new elementary school building in 2025, a historic moment in the community. Rev. Danny is a leader who has shown that teamwork and collective action are essential to facing hard times and building opportunities for others.
