As part of a strategic partnership to expand access to employment opportunities in the community, Esperanza will host its Health & Hiring Fair on April 30, an event that will combine health services with job opportunities and is open to people of all ages. This is a partnership between Esperanza College, Esperanza Housing & Economic Development, and PA CareerLink North.

The initiative was presented by Wanda Carlo, Vice President of Workforce Development at Esperanza, who highlighted that the fair aims to facilitate access to key services that support community well-being and economic development.

An event connecting health and employment

The fair will bring together community organizations and nearly 20 employees offering job openings across various sectors. In addition, attendees will be able to participate in activities such as Zumba classes, yoga sessions, cooking demonstrations, raffles, and giveaways.

The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible. No prior registration is required, and it is open to the entire community, including families with children. Participants can attend freely, receive guidance, and explore different resources based on their needs. “We are bringing opportunities and services directly to the community, in an accessible space and in their own language,” Carlo said.

The role of CareerLink and access to training

A key component of the fair is the participation of PA CareerLink North, a strategic partner in workforce development. This organization provides free services for individuals seeking employment or looking to improve their professional skills.

During the event, CareerLink will offer information about job readiness workshops, including how to write a resume, develop cover letters, and prepare for interviews. They will also provide guidance on training programs such as computer classes, English courses, GED preparation, and other vocational training opportunities.

The collaboration between Esperanza and CareerLink allows attendees not only to learn about immediate job openings but also to access tools and programs that strengthen their long-term career prospects.

Carlo emphasized that the event seeks to close the information gap: “Many times, people don’t know what resources are available. Here they can discover options, ask questions, and receive support based on their interests.

The Health & Hiring Fair will take place on April 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Esperanza’s facilities. The community is invited to attend and take advantage of this opportunity for wellness, guidance, and professional growth.
