Last Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Esperanza Arts Center, the organization Esperanza commemorated its 40th anniversary with the event “Primera Primavera: A Night of the Arts with Pablo Batista,” bringing together more than 180 corporate, civic, philanthropic, and faith leaders.
The evening highlighted the cultural vitality of the community and the impact the organization has generated over four decades, strengthening Hispanic communities and all those who are part of them.
The event began with a reception in La Plaza and the cultural center’s balcony, accompanied by live music, where attendees enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere before the main program began.

Journalist Ariane Datil hosted the evening and welcomed guests by emphasizing the meaning of “Primera Primavera” or “First Spring” as a symbol of renewal, growth, and new opportunities. She noted that for 40 years, Esperanza has been a space where hope turns into action and transforms lives.
One of the central moments was the opening prayer led by Reverend Danny Cortées, who recalled the organization’s mission since its founding in 1986: to respond to the needs of the community through faith and service.
Board Chairman Martin Droz described Esperanza as an “ecosystem of opportunities,” with more than 16 institutions and programs focused on education, housing, economic development, and the arts. He emphasized that in an area historically affected by a lack of investment, the organization has succeeded in creating new opportunities and transforming lives.
During the evening, sponsors and strategic partners whose support has been essential to the organization’s growth and reach were also recognized.
For his part, Founder, President, and CEO Reverend Luis Cortés delivered remarks highlighting that Esperanza currently impacts more than 35,000 people each year. He also reviewed key achievements, including the expansion of educational programs, the development of affordable housing, and investment in cultural initiatives, thanking supporters for their investments through the years.
The evening also included a video testimonial from a participant in the educational programs, demonstrating the direct impact on families and new generations. Briana graduated from Esperanza Cyber school – a place that “boosted [her] confidence” and marked her life and her daughter is an honors student at the school.
The event concluded with an invitation to the venue’s theater to enjoy a special performance by renowned Grammy-winning musician Pablo Batista, accompanied by a 22-piece orchestra, marking the launch of Esperanza’s Latin jazz series.
“Primera Primavera” not only celebrated an anniversary but also reaffirmed a commitment to continue building opportunities, strengthening communities, and sowing hope for future generations.
