Last Thursday, April 9, the Hunting Park neighborhood hosted a special celebration in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, as part of the statewide Bells Across PA program. The event brought together residents, artists, and community organizations around the installation of an artistic replica of the iconic Liberty Bell.
The activity was made possible thanks to the support of local organizations such as Esperanza, Hunting Park NAC, and North 10 Philadelphia, which collaborated to bring this cultural initiative to the heart of the community. The event highlighted neighborhood pride and the importance of preserving Hunting Park’s cultural identity.

The Bells Across PA program, developed in partnership with America250PA and Mural Arts Philadelphia, features an exhibition of fiberglass bells designed and painted by local artists. These pieces, inspired by the historic Liberty Bell, will be installed in various neighborhoods across Philadelphia and other parts of the state throughout 2026.
In total, Philadelphia will feature more than 20 replicas distributed across neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Germantown, Olney, West Philadelphia, and, of course, Hunting Park. Each bell reflects the unique history, culture, and traditions of its community, as artists worked closely with residents and local organizations to develop the designs.
During the event, community leaders emphasized the impact of this initiative. Dr. Jamile Tellez Lieberman, SVP of Community Engagement, Research & Community Health, stated: “This is an excellent initiative as part of this great celebration.”
According to city officials, the program not only aims to commemorate the nation’s independence but also to strengthen the sense of belonging and highlight Philadelphia’s cultural diversity. In addition to its artistic value, the installations are expected to boost local economic activity and attract visitors interested in exploring the city’s public art.
The event in Hunting Park is part of the Ring It On! One Philly, A United Celebration initiative, which places neighborhoods at the center of the commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
With this installation, Hunting Park not only joins the historic celebration but also reaffirms its identity as a vibrant, resilient community full of history.
