As part of its efforts to strengthen and politically empower leaders of the Modern Revolutionary Party, the Dominican movement Avanzada Democrática Moderna has been conducting “Leadership and Political Training” workshops in various U.S. cities.
On August 1, Dominican community leader Tomasina Sosa organized the Philadelphia session at La Uva Social Club, owned by Pablo González La Uva. There, renowned political consultant and communicator Huascar Casado Pujols delivered a clear and insightful presentation, offering key tools for effective leadership grounded in strong political vision — the core goal of the workshop.
“Politics is the science of managing power and the art of creating and seizing opportunities. A good politician is one who creates opportunities and takes advantage of them,” said Casado Pujols.
He emphasized that one of the most important elements in politics is leadership, which he defined as the ability to influence others. He also outlined the four stages of managing a political campaign to win votes: recruitment, consolidation, execution, and protection. “Politics is a competition, and it requires determination, courage, boldness, dedication, and discipline,” he added.
Casado Pujols also discussed the importance of a candidate’s temperament — whether sanguine, choleric, melancholic, or phlegmatic — and how understanding one’s emotional and behavioral responses is essential for effective leadership.
At the end of the workshop, participants received certificates and expressed gratitude to Carolina Mejía, mayor of the National District in the Dominican Republic, Ahida García, a State Farm Insurance agent, and Pablo González La Uva for their support. Luis Camacho, Raymundo Acosta, and Luis Ramón Collado joined Casado Pujols at the event.
