Councilmember Quetcy Lozada met with residents and community organizations at the Norris Square Senior Center during the SNAP Benefit Town Hall 2, held on November 5, with the purpose of providing guidance on recent changes to the SNAP food assistance program.
“The main goal is to share information and answer questions about this topic. It’s important that we connect with our community and make sure they have accurate information,” Lozada said during the meeting.
In an atmosphere of dialogue and participation, the councilmember took the opportunity to send a message of support to families affected by the program adjustments. “I’m here, and so is my office, to show that we’re going to help and refer cases to organizations and groups that can assist people individually,” she noted.
During the event, attendees received useful information on how to maintain their benefits, as well as details on new work requirements and medical exceptions available for individuals with physical or mental health conditions.
