Last Friday, March 27, faith leaders and community members gathered at Iglesia Cristo Mi Rey, located at 2015 N American St in Philadelphia, led by Pastors Hernán and Elida Morales. The gathering brought together representatives from eight churches and approximately ten community members interested in learning more about Esperanza Resource Ministry Associate (ERMA), an initiative focused on strengthening collaboration between churches and community resources, as part of its monthly meeting held on the last Thursday of each month.

During the event, the Impacto team presented the vision of the newspaper, explaining how churches can actively get involved and outlining the steps to request coverage for community events.  This space not only provided information but also opened new opportunities for participation and visibility for local congregations.

The commitment of Pastor Anita Medina, from Iglesia Internacional Peña de Horeb in Philadelphia, was also highlighted. She has remained actively engaged in ERMA communications, demonstrating leadership and dedication to the collaborative process.

A bridge between faith and action

“I firmly believe that when the church and the community sit at the same table, we are not only sharing information, but also planting hope, restoration, and access to real opportunities. As a director and minister, I see this space as a bridge where faith meets action,” said Ivelisse Vázquez, Director of Faith & Capacity Initiatives at Esperanza.

For Ivelisse, this regular gathering reflects a clear vision of unity with purpose. Beyond a meeting, it serves as a reminder that service is not meant to be done in isolation, but through collaboration, learning from one another and strengthening the ability to impact lives in a holistic way: spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

Together we are stronger

“Real transformation happens when the church not only preaches, but also actively engages in the needs of its community. By working together, we break barriers, multiply resources, and extend the reach of the love and justice we proclaim,” Vázquez added.

This type of initiative is vital for the community, as it connects people with real resources through trusted leaders. The church continues to be one of the closest and most influential voices in the community, and when it is informed and equipped, it can guide, support, and transform lives more effectively.

The message is clear: this is born from a genuine desire to serve and the conviction that collaboration makes us stronger. Spaces are being created where information becomes a tool, and where each leader can bring tangible hope to their congregation and neighborhood.

The invitation remains open to the entire Philadelphia church community: join, participate, and see this effort as a gateway to new opportunities, support, and collective growth.
