30 years of building together

In today’s column, I want to open my heart and share, without filters, what our 30 years of marriage have truly been like. Although talking about family may sometimes seem like discussing an “endangered species,” I remain convinced that it is the most valuable refuge we have in both society and the church.

The family was born in the heart of God. The problem began when we chose to do things our own way and drifted away from His original design, complicating our relationships in the process. But there is good news: no matter how much mud we have accumulated or how many times we have stumbled, it is always possible to start again. God longs to restore what has been broken and give us new life, just as the story of the prodigal son illustrates.

1. Love is a decision, not an emotion.
It means choosing forgiveness, patience, respect, and faithfulness every morning (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).

2. No turning back.
In our disagreements, the words divorce and separation simply have no place.

3. Clear priorities.
Family comes before work and even before church activities.

You can achieve this too. Commit your way to the Lord, return to the Manufacturer’s manual, and make the decision to build your home one day at a time.
