Philadelphia’s South 9th Street transformed into a vibrant celebration of soccer and Latino culture on Sunday, August 17, as the Association of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia (AEM) partnered with the Philadelphia Union and the Mayor’s Latino Engagement Office for the second edition of Fiesta Futbolera 2025.

The event, which offered fun, food, and shopping centered around soccer and Mexican culture, energized soccer fans as Philadelphia prepares to host games during the FIFA World Cup 26™. Representatives from Philadelphia Soccer 2026 were on-site recruiting volunteers for the upcoming tournament, bringing the excitement of the world’s premier soccer event directly to the community.

The Philadelphia Falcons challenged attendees with street soccer competitions, and Plei created a dedicated street soccer court on Washington Avenue for small-sided matches.

Beyond sports, the festival showcased Philadelphia’s rich Latino heritage through local vendors offering delicious food and handcrafted artisan goods. The main stage featured captivating cultural performances, beginning with a children’s performance by the Nuuxakun Folkloric Dance Group. The celebration concluded with an energetic performance by Banda Imperial del Bajío Guanajuatense.
