The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Greater Philadelphia Council #20010 proudly hosted its Second Annual Scholarship Banquet on August 7, 2025, at Almost Home restaurant in historic Old City. The event honored outstanding local students who are preparing to pursue higher education or careers in the skilled trades.

This year, six scholarships were awarded to youth from various communities across the Greater Philadelphia area. Recipients included graduating high school seniors and young adults entering technical training programs through IUPAT District Council 21 and Laborers’ Local Union 57. Each student was recognized for their academic achievements, community involvement, and personal determination, in front of family members, educators, and community leaders.

“We are proud to support this next generation of leaders and skilled professionals,” said Maritza Padua, Vice President of LULAC Greater Philadelphia. “Their dreams and efforts reflect the core of our mission—to empower our communities through education, leadership, and opportunity.”

Keynote speakers included State Representative Danilo Burgos (197th District), William Garcia, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Latino Engagement, and attorney Ana Amarante-Craig of HGSK Injury Lawyers.

The evening featured a special dinner, music, and a heartfelt tribute to the students, whose academic interests range from nursing and forensic science to professional painting. LULAC Council #20010 also recognized the generous support of sponsors and community partners who made both the event and the scholarships possible:
